This is a 40 hour average per week position for a local high school. It will involve night and weekend athletic training coverage for the partner district. Other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

Provides coverage of athletic events and assess athletes at designated schools and/or athletic functions. Evaluates physical condition and advises and treats athletes for participation in athletic events. Advises and treats athletes in a variety of settings including the outpatient department. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the injury and age of the patient. Also responsible for the coordination of Clinical Exercise/Cardiac Rehab program. Implements and coordinates exercise programs and administers medical tests, under physician's supervision, to program participants to promote physical fitness.

KNOWLEDGE

Bachelor's Degree in athletic training from approved institution.

NATA certification or eligible; state of Ohio Athletic Training licensure

Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or equivalent required, Master's Degree preferred

Current certification in BCLS

Experience with the use pf various exercise equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases

Has contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances

May be exposed to patient elements

Subject to varying and unpredictable work situations

Working under extreme adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time

Requires flexibility in work hours

Work requires walking, standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, handling and lifting up to a minimum of 50 lbs., and pushing/pulling. 

DUTIES

Administers routine and corrective exercises

Massages body parts which may be strained or bruised

Renders first aid

Wrapping and taping ankles, fingers, wrists, etc.

Treats acute and chronic minor injuries to maintain athlete's performance

Performs on the field triage and refers to physician as appropriate

Maintains and orders sports medicine supplies

Maintain accurate and timely documentation on any athlete receiving care or assessment

Explains program and test procedures to patients
